Artist Claire Casseb will bring legends of film and music to life in her latest exhibit.

Produced in association with PrimaDonna Productions, Inc., "Glamour in Glitter" will showcase Casseb's portraits in glitter of cultural icons.  Inspired by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and other pop art visionaries, Casseb's glitter collection pays tribute to Hollywood's favorite leading ladies – from Lucille Ball to Liza Minnelli, from Bettie Page to Brigitte Bardot – as well as music icons Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse.  The exhibit will further showcase Casseb's passion for theatricality and her hair and make-up artistry, as selected celebrities from her portraits will be brought to life by models to entertain guests.

“I've put all my passions – theatre, music, fashion – into my paintings,” Casseb says.  “And having living models, who look like the people I've painted, walking around talking to people is something I'm very excited about.  I'm looking forward to seeing how people respond to them, and to the art.”

"Glamour in Glitter" has been partially funded through Kickstarter, the popular “crowdfunding” platform that allows people to contribute directly to their favorite creative projects.  As Nikki Young, President of PrimaDonna Productions, explains, “Platforms like Kickstarter have changed the way artists and fans interact with one another.  It's not just about downloading an album or seeing a show anymore - now, you can contribute to that album or that show and help make it a reality.  It's a whole new way of supporting creative artists.”

BACKGROUND:
Based in South Texas, Claire Casseb describes her work as “Contemporary Pop Art & Photorealism."  Working in a variety of media, she is known for her Legends Series of celebrity portraits; her Glitter Collection, and her commissioned work for such clients as Gotta Play Tennis (a tennis shop at The Ridge Shopping Center in San Antonio), Belles & Beaux (a children's boutique located in Alamo Heights, Texas), and the acclaimed band The Krayolas (whose album Tipsy Topsy Turvy features cover art designed by Casseb). Her work has been showcased at a variety of locations such as the Bexar County Courthouse, La Tuna Grill, Big House Coffee Bar, and Starbucks on Broadway.
