May 18, 2012 - PRLog -- The Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce that in addition to the scholarships and prizes awarded to the top eleven finalist acts at the 2nd Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition on April 27th at The Fabulous Fox Theatre, the eighteen teens will be performing at various events over the summer/fall.    In addition, The Nine Network will be broadcasting an hour-long special about the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition featuring all of the finalists’ performances.   The Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation hopes this exposure will provide even more opportunities for the finalists to perform throughout the region.

The finalists already have participated in the National Dance Week Celebration at Union Station on April 28th.  The following events are currently scheduled with more dates to be added as they are finalized:

Shakespeare Festival St. Louis: Forest Park May 27
Webster Groves Art & Air, Webster Groves, MO June 2
Shakespeare Festival St. Louis: Forest Park June 15
The Muny: Lichtenstein Plaza, St. Louis, June 20
Dancing in the Street Festival, St. Louis, September 29

On Monday, May 21st at 7 pm, the Nine Network will present an expanded 60-minute “Living St. Louis” program featuring the 2nd Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition.  The Nine Network joined with the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation as an event partner to film the final Broadway style event as well as semi-final performances and contestant interviews.  The program will re-air on Saturday, May 26th at 10:30am.  The broadcasts are sponsored by St. Louis Community College.

The Nine Network also loaned digital video cameras to students to document their journey through the competition. Candid behind-the-scenes footage was edited into short videos and posted online, giving the public an opportunity to hear directly from the students and get to know the performers as they went through the entire process.  These videos can be viewed on the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation’s SchoolTube and YouTube channels and Facebook page.

The distinguished panel of judges chose the following students for top honors this year: 1st place $7000 college scholarship went to “The Cotton Club” tap dancers Marquis Cooper, Virgil Fisher of Central VPA High School and DaJuan Johnson;  the 2nd place $5000 college scholarship went to Hazelwood East High School’s hip-hop dancers “Super Sick Crew” Paul Springer, Anthony Pawnell, Corenlius Igwe and Lonnie Howard;  the 3rd place $3000 scholarship went to juggler Kellin Quinn of Circus Harmony.  Full list of prize & award winners available on FPACF website; pictures available upon request.
