Massage therapists finally get their EMR app on Android: Espresso Massage Therapy by Scionis

That may explain why, two months ago, the Portuguese start-up Scionis Medical was contacted by David B. Blum, LMT, CKTP, owner of Healthy Touch Massage Therapy and instructor at the Cortiva Institute in Tucson, Arizona, asking for what he couldn’t find on the market: a therapist-centered tool to collect and save his patients’ information that would be intuitive, complete and mobile at the same time.

Scionis Medical didn’t hesitate, and, with Mr. Blum’s collaboration created the Espresso Massage Therapy set of charts to be used through its EMR/EHR cloud-based service Espresso MD. Therapists download the Medical Charts app, purchase the charts they need (separately or in package), and can also subscribe to the cloud-based EHR service.

To save therapists time, the company decided to create a specific Android app including the Medical Charts app pre-loaded with all the massage charts.
This ready-to-use app allows the professional to keep track of all the information he/she needs. From the patient history and complaints to the recommended follow-up and treatment, every step of the therapy can be registered, stored and retrieved for a later review.
The app features are the usual Scionis Medical Charts app characteristics:
- designed to work on Android phones and tablets
- no more than 3 taps away from recording important patient data
- drop downs, free text boxes, Speech Recognition
- automatic highlights when the patient’s information changes
- print/email function

And the Massage Therapy set of charts allows to collect:
- the patients history
- their complaints
- their disorders (muscle, joint, spine posture)
- the treatment(s) performed
- the technique(s) used
- how the patients respond to the treatments
- the therapist diagnoses
- the recommended follow-up
- etc.
