It is understood and supported within the Branson School Online community that education needs to be student centered and given the students varied educational experiences prior to joining the Branson community of learners, it is imperative that the staff understand the key areas of learning that need to be focused on to assure a strong educational foundation for each students continued learning to advance. With the support of assessment, as well as a talented,highly qualified, caring and comitted educational team, Ms. Lyon has been able to guide and counsel students so that success is within their grasp.
She is appreciated by staff and students alike as a wise guide linking the educational requirements that each student must fulfill for graduation, of the district and the state of Colorado, to the greater student goals associated with Post Secondary & Career interests that may be more relevant to the individual student. Ms. Lyon teaches a required course for all new high school students regardless of their grade. This course that links their career interests to educational requirements, supports the exploration what the student will need to do and the supports that may be sought to accomplish the requirements and pursue their chosen career path. This course opens the doors for discovery while setting forth a template for decisionmaking that is within the control of the student. Where this phase of a students life can be uncertain and sometimes a scary time of transition, through this course Ms. Lyon is able to support the students in gaining confidence, knowledge, skills, and ownership for identifying and pursuing their life goals.
