May 17, 2012 - PRLog -- I have made my living completely online since 2007. How? I write and sell ebooks; I promote affiliate products; I create and teach e-seminars; and I write articles for clients (I own an SEO writing company). To promote all of my online ventures, I use article marketing. Following are three of my favorite article distribution outlets that drive consistent traffic to my websites and blogs, which leads to consistent sales.

Article Distribution Outlet #1: Free Classified Ad Sites

There are tons of places to submit your article online once it’s written. An often overlooked outlet is free classified ad sites like Backpage (my favorite), or Craigslist, etc., because they’re not an “article directory.” But, what’s the point of article marketing? To drive traffic, right?

Well, free classified ad sites get a lot of traffic. Proof? According to Alexa.com, Craigslist is one of the most visited sites in the world, coming in at number 9 in the U.S. and number 47 in the world as of this writing. Remember, this is out of BILLIONS of websites.

Also, search engines like Google crawl free classified ad sites regularly (like every few minutes!) because they’re updated so frequently with new postings (ads). What does this mean for you as an article marketer? That your classified ad has an excellent chance of showing up in Google searches – especially if it’s been properly SEO’d. This could mean hundreds or thousands of new visitors to your website/blog – in just a matter of days.

I believe in this form of article distribution so much that I hired a virtual assistant to places articles and ads for affiliate products I promote five days per week. It keeps my direct ebook sales consistent, in addition adding growing my subscriber lists, which leads to future sales.

Article Distribution Outlet #2: Traffic Exchange Sites

This is a severely underused article distribution outlet. What are traffic exchange sites? As defined on Wikipedia:

A traffic exchange website receives website submissions from webmasters that join traffic exchange networks. The person who submitted the website then has to browse other member sites on the exchange program to earn credits, which enable their sites to be viewed by other members through the surf system. This increases the number of visitors to all the sites involved.

One of my favorite traffic exchange sites is TrafficSwarm.com. What I like about these types of sites is they’re free; your content does get in front of readers because people want to receive their free credits; and they are great for building subscriber lists.

Article Distribution Outlet #3: Free Press Release Sites

I use these sites just like I would article websites that seek submissions (eg, IdeaMarketers.com). But instead of submitting “press releases,” I submit the content I write for article marketing purposes. Just like free classified ad sites, free press release sites get a lot of search engine juice.

One of my favorites is PRLog.com. What I love about this site is that it has a control panel that lets you see how many surfers have read your “press release.”

Since 2008, I have uploaded over 100 articles to this site, and many of them have thousands of “hits” (ie, reads”. One article I uploaded just three days ago has 157 hits (Get More Organic Traffic: 3 Easy SEO Tips That Can Double or Triple Your Site’s Traffic); another I uploaded 5 days ago has 219 hits.

Another Reason to Use This Article Marketing Strategy

Journalists scour sites like these to publish in local papers. I’ve had quite a few of my articles published in local newspapers around the country, as well as in online ezines, magazines and blogs.

Most publishers won’t contact you to let you know that they’ve used your content; they don’t have time. But, I just wanted you to know that this is an excellent reason to post your content there because if you see a sudden spike in sales one day, it could be because an article you’ve placed on a free press release site was picked up and published by a local and/or online outlet.
