Bernstein launched Suburban Jungle to serve young families moving from Manhattan to the surrounding suburbs.
In the May issue of "Real Estate Broker's Insider," Bernstein explains how the agency grew out of her own frustration with making the move to the suburbs.
"We literally had to cold call brokers, and we went from town to town," Bernstein says. "Did we ask the right questions? Absolutely not."
Everyone thinks about commute times before picking a new place to live. But other factors are harder to research. How good are the schools? Which schools are best for children with autism or other issues? What are the cultural and political leanings of the town? How do people spend their weekends?
To answer those questions, Suburban Jungle has assembled a network of 45 agents who work in the suburbs in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Bernstein calls them "town consultants."
