May 17, 2012 - PRLog -- David Guiel, a Portsmouth-based General Manager at removals company Bishop’s Move, is set to run the Brighton Marathon on April 19th to help raise funds for Guys and St. Thomas’s Hospital, Westminster, London (in particular The Evelina Children’s Hospital).  David’s daughter Jemima was born two years ago and was given just a five per cent chance of survival after losing 50 per cent of her blood at birth. However, following the dedication and care from the staff at St.Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey and then the Evelina Children’s Hospital, Jemima survived, and is now living a fully fit and healthy life with her family. The Evelina are committed to monitoring Jemima’s progress and have made the lives of David’s family much easier.

Having earlier in the year competed in the Brighton-half marathon and raised over £1,000 for the Early Birth Association, David is once again donning his running shoes and competing in another race to raise money for the hospital he owes so much to. The staff at Guys and St. Thomas’s also operated on David’s godson Elliot Brown 18 months ago, who was born with cerebral palsy, and the team still closely monitor his progress.

Last year David entered for the first time and completed the gruelling London Marathon and raised £2,500 for Guys and St. Thomas’s Hospital. Having only agreed to run the Brighton race 11 weeks ago, David is aiming to raise at least £400.

David comments: “I’m certainly no stranger to running for charity and I consider it an honour considering who I’m running for and the cause I’m supporting. It’s been two years now but the memories will live on. We, as a family, owe so much to the support and care shown by the team at Guys and St. Thomas’s Hospital, in particular the staff at its Evelina Hospital. I want to help raise money to ensure they have the funds for the hospital so they can keep up this remarkable standard of care for future patients. We owe them so much.”

Commenting on his training regime and the prospect of running his local marathon, David says: “My favourite place to run is over the South Downs and this route puts me in touching distance. I can’t wait. Training is always tough and running 45-miles a week requires a lot of discipline and energy. However I’ve got absolutely no doubt that it will all be worth it.”

Chris Marshall, Marketing Director Bishop’s Move comments: “As always, we are immensely proud of David and what he has achieved by raising money for various charities. Both David and his family are an inspiration to us all and we are fully behind him and can’t wait to see him out on the track. Everyone at Bishop’s Move wishes him all the best.”
