The SunCarrier Omega Net-Zero Energy Building is an off-grid solar powered facility. Energy generated by the sun-tracking SunCarrier solar PV systems feeds the lighting and air-conditioning load for the building, while also charging the large capacity Cellcube vanadium redox flow battery and energy management system. The Cellcube provides adequate power at nights and on days when the solar power generation is inadequate.
The SunCarrier Omega Net-Zero Energy Building is also a near-zero carbon emission building, that incorporates demand-side energy efficiencies, including daylighting for high utilization of natural lighting; LED lighting and occupancy monitoring sensors. The air conditioning system has ozone friendly refrigerant and carbon dioxide monitoring sensor system and low noise inverters. Water harvesting system, controlled water discharge toilets, and sewage treatment with zero discharge ensure efficient usage of water. The furniture, too, is 95% recyclable.
Southeast Asia Building, published bi-monthly since 1974, is a Singapore-based trade magazine devoted to architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and facility management. The magazine provides updated information on current architecture projects, building news, product reviews, market trends and industry related awards throughout the Southeast Asian region, Middle East, USA, and Europe.
