Security Luminary Dr. Taher Elgamal joins TLC Secure, Inc. Advisory Board

May 16, 2012 - PRLog -- SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- TLC Secure, Inc., a leading provider of Critical Infrastructure security solutions, today announced one of the most distinguished experts in the industry, Dr. Taher Elgamal, has joined the company's advisory board.  Dr. Elgamal is the inventor of SSL. He is Chief Identity Officer of IdentityMind, has CEO and cofounder of Securify and Netscape's former Chief Scientist.

    Dr. Elgamal joins TLC’s advisory board as the company begins shipment of its new product SafeConnect, the industry's most secure access solution for enterprise connectivity from hotspots, public networks, home wired and wireless networks as well as from within the enterprise.

    Elgamal is a recipient of the RSA Conference 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award. He is recognized in the industry as the inventor of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), a protocol used virtually everywhere on the Internet for secure web sites and commerce. He also wrote the SSL patent and promoted SSL as the Internet Security standard within standard committees and the industry.

    Elgamal invented several industry and government standards in the data security and digital signatures areas, including the DSS government standard for digital signatures. Several thousand publications have been written in the space referred to as "the Elgamal Cryptography." Elgamal developed basic work that was adopted in commercial products by nearly a dozen companies, several IEEE and ISO standards, as well the adapted DSS government standard for digital signatures. The work was also the basis for the Elliptic Curve encryption methods.

    He is an advisor to Onset Ventures, Glenbrook Partners, PGP corporation, Arcot Systems, Finjan, Facetime, Simplified, Zetta and serves as Chief Security Officer of Axway, Inc. He has a Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
