May 16, 2012 - PRLog -- South Africa will play host to regional and international satellite leaders for three days of learning, workshop , networking and product exhibit.  SATCOM Africa is one of the most awaited conferences as it gathers regional satellite communications industry in the region and foreign markets. The show is a collaboration among Telecoms World Africa, Submarine Networks World Africa and The TV Show Africa. SATCOM Africa will present leading African and international satellite communications market that develop, operate and invest in the region.NewSat is poised to provide wider coverage in the region as it develops its Jabiru satellite fleet.

Bradley Shaw, 3i Publishing Editor,  and   Thierry Tormiet , Middle East and Africa Regional Director Telecom Italia Sparkle , will be among the panelists discussing the ways to optimize  broadband access and return on investment. Diarmid Massey, Cable & Wireless VP for Carrier Sales, will explain how fiber can complent satellite technology.  Radio Communications Bureau ITU Director Yvon Henri will discuss high-bandwidth but fast satellite link. Mr. Tormiet and Mr. Massey will also be present on the panel on  "Fibre and satellite – the cohesive solution."  Steve Rich will represent NewSat  and will be available to conduct product briefings.  The Australian satellite provider is expected to launch the Jabiru-1 satellite in 2014. The first of its five satellites is now under construction, courtesy of Lockheed Martin.

The conference will also cover topics related to -generated demand for capacity, deciding whether to build or buy SATCOM technology, upsides of infrastructure  sharing and design, maintaining market competitiveness through local content development, preparing for cable failure,  increasing ARPU through utilization of mobile TV, applications of satellites to DTH business, making money out of regional satellite applications,  and deploying satellite networks for mobile and the fixed broadband services.

The 3-day event will start May 21 at the Sandton Convention Centre Johannesburg. Speed Networking, a formal part of conference proceeding , will provide participants a chance to share their business cards with one another.
