May 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Friday night, May 11, Jodi Shaw performed with eight amazing artists, chosen from hundreds, in front of a panel of industry judges at Songfest7, which included: Debra Russell (career coach), Peter Bliss (singer/songwriter) and Dave Michaels (WEXT 97.7).  They rated them on originality, performance and songwriting, and Jodi won a five-hour recording session at the Clubhouse, sponsored by The Ungar Foundation, and "opening act billing" the following evening at Club Helsinki for their featured performer.  The competition was presented by the Columbia Arts Team.

She performed In Cabrini-Green, Your Lovely Face, and Is.

Jodi has played to standing room only audiences and has toured through England, Holland, Denmark and the Czech Republic. She has been awarded the Songwriters Hall of Fame Abe Olman Award for Excellence in Songwriting and was chosen to exhibit her work for Soundgate 2010 in Aalbarg, Denmark.  A sea change came for Jodi in the fall of 2009, when she welcomed twin sons into her life. Now, she is back, full-force, at gale-wind speed, with her creative voice strengthened and deepened.

She couldn't have picked a better time to release this gripping new collection of music.  The great tradition of female pop artists like Tori Amos, Natalie Merchant and Fiona Apple has been waiting for its newest heir.  To some it might have seemed that such bravely expressive female singer–songwriters were an endangered species.

Jodi Shaw is proof that’s not the case.
