Massage therapists, keep your finger tips warm, you’ll need them to assess your patients

May 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Scionis, an emergent portuguese start-up specialized in medical software, added yesterday a new set of products to its clinical charts store. After Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Nephrology etc., the company choosed to focus on Massage Therapy.
Mário Bessa, General Manager of the company, explains why:
“We started to develop these products after receiving several messages from massage therapists saying they couldn’t find any satisfactory tool to keep track of their patients information efficiently. Efficient, as they put it, would have meant: intuitive, clear, simple and, of course, affordable”.
These products were designed in collaboration with professional massage therapist to match Scionis usual characteristics: straight-to-the-point yet complete electronic forms to help professionals record well-structured information about their patients.
As Ricardo Almeida, Senior Software Developer at Scionis, points out, “the 14 charts are based on a traditional SOAP Note format to follow the patient from the beginning till the end, from the Reason for Encounter to the Treatment plan. Which would include the patient history and complaints, various examination (joint and muscle palpation, joint and spine posture alignment, range of motion test, muscle testing), the treatment plan and response, etc.”.
The protocol to use these charts is the same as every Espresso MD clinical chart: they can be purchased through the Espresso Clinical Charts Store (independently or as a whole package) and the therapist uses them through the Espresso MD Medical Charts service (available for smartphones, tablets and computers Mac/PC). This service includes the Espresso MD Medical Charts app (available for free at Google Play) and a cloud-based EHR (a one-month-for-free trial version can be found on the Espresso MD website).
