May 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Scottsdale, AZ – May 15, 2012 – Arizona entrepreneurs Juli La Porte and Sarah Stolp of Allergy Awareness, LLC aim to eliminate the guess work of eating out with food allergies across the country with the founding of a new website, CanIEatHere.com.  The recently launched allergy friendly restaurant guide is dedicated to providing information to those with food allergies and specific dietary needs, allowing such individuals to dine out without compromising health and personal eating habits.

While many other online restaurant guides already exist, CanIEatHere.com is this first of its kind; as it quickly and easily supplies users eating outside the home with the important information necessary to adhere to particular dietary demands.  Founders La Porte and Stolp accomplish this by providing each restaurant with a multi-point kitchen inspection checklist of clear and concise guidelines designed to differentiate between allergy friendly, or non-allergy friendly conditions for all of the top eight allergens prior to listing.

The top eight allergens in the United States to which CanIEatHere.com considers include: dairy, wheat, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish and soy.  Information about each restaurant’s gluten-free, organic, vegan, kosher, low fat and low carbohydrate options can also be found within the restaurant’s profile.

Using the eateries’ responses to the questionnaire, they are categorized according to which allergy(ies) they cater to, as well as other special diets they can accommodate.  CanIEatHere.com allows users to locate a restaurant via a zip code or city search, both of which can be filtered by any of the aforementioned categories.

The diagnosis of Celiac Disease for the Co-Founders, Stolp and La Porte, led the two women to the creation of an all-inclusive allergy friendly restaurant guide.  “As my daughter and I were both recently diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, I found myself constantly trolling for restaurants that understood and could prepare meals the way that we need.  Once I learned that one in twenty five of the U.S. population has a food allergy, I knew I could not be the only one searching to no avail,” said La Porte.

After comparing notes on the good, the bad and the ugly of local restaurants, Sarah Stolp and Juli La Porte decided to take the matter into their own hands, by establishing an online restaurant guide that would answer their frequently asked question, “can I eat here?”

“We’re proud to deliver a solution to such a large percentage of the population with questions and concerns just like ours,” said Stolp.  “We hope that through the institution of CanIEatHere.com we can not only help millions of people find places to eat that suit their unique needs, but also stimulate growth in the economy at large, through giving our listed restaurants the increased visibility and recognition they deserve.”

In addition to restaurant listings, CanIEatHere.com users can search for specialized recipes, books, products, articles and more.
