Citizens Choice Healthplan Hmo Announces Expansion Plans, Reports Record Net Profits For 2011

May 14, 2012 - PRLog -- CERRITOS, Calif. – May 14, 2012- Citizens Choice Healthplan HMO has announced new expansion plans for the Medicare benefit year 2013 and has applied to The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services to expand its Medicare Advantage Plan to communities in Northern California.

An independent health plan formed by Dr Nissan Kahen and his brother, Parvis “Paul” Kahen in 2003, Citizens Choice continues to gain financial momentum and posted record net profits for the year-ended December 31, 2011.  As exhibited in the Company’s  December 31, 2011 year-end audited financial statements (available via the California Department of Managed Healthcare’s public website), the Company’s year-over-year membership base grew by approximately 26 percent.

A key driver of this membership increase was primarily attributed to Citizens Choice’s attractive benefit offerings throughout the Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino Counties as well as being widely received via its previous expansion to Riverside County in 2011, says company COO, Elizabeth Tejada.

“Citizens Choice has highly regarded customer service team members who go above and beyond every day to provide excellent customer service to our member,” states Ms. Tejada.  “In addition, our provider services team has been instrumental in continuing to provide excellent service and acclimating provider partners to CCHP and its benefits.”  

Ms. Tejada said since its inception, Citizens Choice has grown organically one member at a time by fostering, and continuing to maintain, strong ties to the Medicare and Medicare/Medicaid beneficiary communities it serves via its highly dedicated employees, provider and sales networks and its Member Services “customer-oriented” approach which has earned a CMS Four Star Rating.

As to the Company’s net income, Citizens Choice remains the “best-in-class” with regard to containing its general and administrative costs, which is another key driver of its year-over-year financial increase.  During periods of rising healthcare costs and economic reform, this is just one of the many areas in which this health plan takes a tremendous amount of pride, thus enabling the Company to invest more into its members by providing them with richer benefits and continued development of strategic healthcare wellness programs.
