By: Drew Perry Lightweight was an anomalous but significant product for Foscarini. Anomalous in its identification with semi-handcrafting production methods, which the company’s versatility allowed it to confront and respond to; significant because its a dialog with an interesting concept of design, strongly characterized by visual impact, which lay within the contemporary culture of the design project. Tom Dixion was born in Tunisia (Sfax, 1959) and studied in London. A professional musician, he entered the field of design as both designer and entrepreneur, experimenting with materials, technology and form, exploring for example the theme of recycling. For Foscarini he was the author of the Lightweight collection in 1995. Foscarini’s international focus has led it to develop a solid sales network, with over 2500 multibrand sales points in 50 countries, with the support of high quality customer service, UNI EN ISO 9001 certified since 1996. All this has allowed Foscarini to launch its “Successful Living from Diesel with Foscarini” collection, the result of a partnership with Diesel, an international brand and lifestyle leader: new language and new aesthetics to conquer a new public.
