Since Thursday night’s inspiration-
“We’re proud to have successfully established an atmosphere where women can release their inhibitions in a vibrant, positive and uplifting manner,” says Quinones, founder of JustRose Talent & Production.
The three remaining workshops take place Thursday, May 17, 24 and 31, and run from 7-9 p.m. at 1918 E. 99th St. (Draper Hall). Each class features a different dance genre, including Hip-Hop, Latin, and House. The last 30 minutes are designated to a health and wellness segment hosted by a different weekly special guest speaker.
For Galagarza, the workshop was a much-needed 360 degree shift from her current role as the creative director of KR3Ts Dance Company, a New York non-profit organization that, since 1989, has transformed the lives of countless at risk youth and mentored over 5000 students.
“I’m always pushing my students at KR3Ts so hard, and so it was great to experience the love and motivation that the women provided,” says Galagarza, a mother of three boys and former Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater student.
"Rosie and I formed an incredible sisterly bond with the ladies. We all seemed to have had the need to relate to one another and share our experiences as grown women with similar interests, lives, insecurities, stresses and responsibilities.”
The post-workshop transformations became visibly evident in several of the participants, almost instantly. Subsequently, one of the women decided to go with a new look and dyed her hair. The husband of another participant, Nancy Rodriguez, immediately noticed a difference in his wife’s demeanor.
“I loved the energy. I had a blast!" exclaimed Rodriguez. "Once I got home my husband said, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ I wasted absolutely no time replying, 'You mean what’s right with me! I feel like a new woman!'"
