Change The Definition Launches First Contest of 2012

Unique contest offers participants the chance to get creative, engage in social media interactivity, and receive a $100 cash prize

May 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Change The Definition, the Portland-based apparel company has announced its first contest of 2012.  The clothing company encourages participants to create their own poem or rap on how they would change the definition (make a significant social change) and make their  mark on the world! Participants must be in college or be pre-college students between the age of 17-25 throughout the United States. The poem or rap must be 50 words or less. The entries will be accepted  between May 15th - June 1st, 2012. The Top 4 Winning entries will be chosen based on creativity and content.

Pparticipants must: “Like” Change the Definition Apparel on Facebook or “Follow” on Twitter. They must also submit their contest entries to info@changethedef.com by adding “Contest Entry” in subject line, and in the body of the email (Name, Phone Number, Email Address, Age & Entry).
      
The winners will be announced on June 4th and added to the company’s Facebook page for votes (likes) between June 5th-15th. The Top 2 Contestants with the most votes will move forward to PHASE 2 of contest which includes a T-shirt  designed based on their entry printed to sell through September 1st, 2012.

Each contestant will receive a T-shirt in their design to wear, and contestants must create sales through company website and Facebook Page. The contestants prize will be based on number of shirts sold. The grand prize:is $5 each shirt and the runner up is $2.50 each shirt.
         
The Top 4 entries are guaranteed a prize of at least $100 towards education. The prize money will be paid directly to the school after September 1st, 2012. The winners may not transfer the prize to another student.

About Change The Definition
Following a life-changing trip Rebekah took to Ethiopia, Africa, volunteer teacher Rebekah Star, created a t-shirt design consisting of the poem that changes the definition of black in the shape of a globe surrounding a “power to the people” fist. That’s when Change the Definition Apparel Company, LLC was born. Change the Definition has made a commitment to create a bright future for America and Africa's at-risk youth by investing in literacy based projects and programs. The current projects include providing over 7,700 students with take home books and building a library in Ethiopia, Africa for kids who lack access to them.
