May 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Maryland Public Television (MPT) is pleased to announce the weekly lifestyle series My Generation has been nominated for a National Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Lifestyle Program category for the second consecutive year.  My Generation is distributed nationally by MPT and produced by AARP in association with MPT. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy, universally acknowledged as the highest honor in the television industry. Winners will be announced on June 17th.
The new season of My Generation launched in May and features entertainers, athletes, and public figures finding a purpose beyond the limelight and living happily in their ‘second and third acts.’  In an exclusive interview, Elton John talks about his transformation from demanding pop star to HIV/AIDS advocate, while Kareem Abdul-Jabbar discusses passing the ball of wisdom to a new generation.
My Generation also covers the stories of people making a difference.  There’s the Hollywood screenwriter who developed training programs for child care workers in China, and the Maryland man who drills water wells for villages in Ghana, improving the health of thousands.
Hosted by Emmy-winner Leeza Gibbons, My Generation is available in over 78% of the country on more than 300 public television stations. My Generation airs on MPT Sundays at 9:30 AM.
Under Executive Producer David Pepper, the My Generation staff is comprised of an outstanding team of top contributors from across the country and around the world.
