The seminar will take place at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Courtyard Marriott, 420 Forsgate Drive, Cranbury, NJ. It will cover numerous topics related to the evaluation of children with any condition that potentially limits their educational opportunities. These include: • The school district’s obligation to identify students with special needs • The district’s obligation to assess students in all areas of suspected disability • The differences between standardized and informal assessments • How technology can be used to enhance test accuracy • The critical importance of accurate assessments Families with children diagnosed with Aspergers, ADHD, Autism, behavioral disorders, cognitive impairment, developmental delay, hearing or visual impairments, brain injuries, learning disabilities, speech impairment or any other condition that potentially limits the child’s educational opportunities should attend this event. The seminar will be presented by Alicia C. Parson and Jayne M. Wesler., Ms. Parson is a certified RDI consultant and Language Pathologist who works with children and adults in both clinical as well as educational settings. She specializes in providing services to children with communication disorders, including those on the autism spectrum. Jayne M. Wesler is a Partner at Sussan & Greenwald, a law firm focusing exclusively on advocating for the rights of children with special needs. Lecturing frequently on issues in mental health, special education and the law, Ms. Wesler is also a licensed clinical social worker and former child study team member.
