The Modern Martial Arts Academy Opens in Main Line Philadelphia

Originally founded in 1999 by owner and lead instructor Michael Morning, The Modern Martial Arts Academy now opens its doors to the Main Line region of Philadelphia, offering something new - exclusive 1-on-1 personalized training.

PRLog - May 14, 2012 - BERWYN, Pa. -- The Modern Martial Arts Academy, is now open for business in Main Line Philadelphia and the surrounding area.  Originally founded in 1999 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a new branch is now open and offering something new to the area - exclusive 1-on-1 personalized martial arts and self defense training.

"Professionalism is key," says owner and head instructor, Michael Morning. "Martial arts schools today aren't what they used to be. The service is terrible, the instructors are young kids with shiny new black belts and zero experience, and the schools change addresses frequently. Opening a new branch of the academy is our attempt at bringing back the positive aspects of martial arts to the Philly area."

Michael Morning is no stranger to the martial arts. He began his studies more than 30 years ago and has gone on to train in nearly a dozen different arts. While still in college he opened his first school through a health club in Southampton, NY, then went on to found his own unique style, Contemporary Martial Science (CMS), in 1997.

"I've always tried to broaden my skill base," says Morning. "Too many traditional styles lack real-world practicality and just as many competition-based styles lack for skills suitable for smaller or less athletic people to successfully defend themselves. I've worked very hard through the years to develop a curriculum that ties together the best, most practical aspects of all the arts I've studied. The end result is CMS."

Through The Modern Martial Arts Academy, Michael Morning offers a fully-customized, 1-on-1 training program ideal for men and women of all ages and children 6 years and older. And because 1-on-1 personal training is often quite expensive, he's kept the rates affordable and thrown in a unique twist.

"We keep our rates low and our service high. Our class fees are just $50 per short session and $75 for 2-hour sessions. We train people in the privacy of their own homes at a time of their convenience. And to make it even more affordable, students can actually train with friends or family members to split the fee, making it a much higher value - and potentially even more affordable - than traditional group-class rates. And we have no contracts, sign-up fees or membership dues."

A final unique aspect of training provided by The Modern Martial Arts Academy is the ability to tailor the training toward the interests of the individual student.

"I've trained in such a wide variety of arts that I can tailor aspects of the training toward a particular style that the student may prefer. For instance, jujutsu is a much different art than, say, arnis or tae kwon do. Should a student already have experience in one, or a preference for one, we can structure their training in that direction. There really is a lot of room to move and grow."
