Dunhurst pupil wins Sports Award

Block 2 (Year 8) pupil, Emilie Jung, from Dunhurst, Bedales Junior School, has won the Sports Award in the Petersfield Business and Community Awards, and was also awarded Highly Commended for the Young Achiever of the Year.
 
May 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Block 2 (Year 8) pupil, Emilie Jung, from Dunhurst, Bedales Junior School, has won the Sports Award in the Petersfield Business and Community Awards, and was also awarded Highly Commended for the Young Achiever of the Year.

Jane Grubb, Head of Dunhurst, nominated Emilie for the awards due to the sheer hard work and determination which she has shown and for what she has achieved in the last 12 months, including success at a number of cross country events, as well as netball. She was1st girl in the Years 8-12 Butser Challenge Race (she is only a Year 8 herself); 1st at Westbourne House School cross country; 3rd out of 43 at the South East Hants cross country;  and was selected for the Hampshire Netball Academy.

Attending the awards ceremony at the Festival Hall with her family, Emilie said “it is great that there is an award like this for children. I was surprised and delighted to have won, it meant a lot to me and will inspire me to keep going in the future”

Jane commented:
“It is wonderful for Emilie to receive recognition for her achievements. She is a very dedicated young sports woman and shows real grit and determination both individually but also when she plays in our Dunhurst sports teams. Having sporty, sparky people like Emile at Dunhurst is what makes the school so special”
