Having been General Manager of the Greenbank Hotel for nearly five years, Mr McVey has now started his new role with the Cornwall Hotel Collection, where he will be responsible for the day-to-day operational side of both the Greenbank Hotel and Alverton Manor.
Kearan will focus on the strategic direction of the two hotels, overseeing the investment and refurbishment projects that will take place at both properties, as well as the recruitment of senior appointments which is now underway.
“We have invested heavily in the Greenbank over the last ten years and the future plans are to integrate the hotel with its environment – particularly the water. At Alverton Manor we are currently finalising a development plan that will enable us to move the hotel from its current three star rating to four, ensuring its position as the leading hotel in Truro”.
Having been promoted from Deputy General Manager to Hotel Manager for the Greenbank Hotel, Paul Goodwin will be responsible for running the Falmouth hotel, overseeing sales, marketing and operations development, whilst managing the Heads of Departments.
With a great deal of experience in front of house, food and drink, customer experience and functions, Paul is looking forward to building on the Greenbank’s already high levels of customer care, encouraging feedback from guests to ensure improvement wherever possible.
Mr Goodwin said:
“The Greenbank Hotel has the most amazing location, right at the water’s edge. I’m looking forward to marrying this with the highest quality offering for food, beverages, service and rooms - ensuring a high level of comfort for visitors. We receive fantastic feedback about the way that our team look after our guests, but there is always room for improvement. I will be working hard to ensure that the Greenbank Hotel’s visitors only receive the best possible care to ensure a high quality offering across the board”.
Paul joined the Greenbank Hotel nearly five years ago having worked at the Falmouth Beach Hotel as Duty Manager and within a range of management roles. Aged 32, he lives in Falmouth with his wife and two children.
Kearan, who is 38, ran corporate hotels in Edinburgh before moving to Cornwall with his wife, who comes from Penzance, five years ago. The couple now live in Falmouth with their three children.
With development plans underway at the Greenbank Hotel for a spa and brasserie, the team is looking forward to replicating the enormous success it has enjoyed in Falmouth with the history and grandeur of the Alverton Manor in Truro, helping them to establish it as one of the finest venues in the county.
