For the UK market there is a choice of four engine options in the Mazda2, the petrol engines are a 1.3 litre with either 74 or 83 bhp and a 1.5 litre with 101 bhp. Around town the petrol engines are nippy enough to put a smile on your face. The single diesel option is a 1.6 litre unit that delivers a respectable 94 bhp.
The Mazda2 has been described in some motoring press as the most enjoyable car to drive in its class, considering the Fiesta is in that class that is quite a statement. The ride on the Mazda2 is firm but comfortable enough over humps and bumps. Thanks to this firm ride it handles very well and corners amazingly.
Now Mazda has announced the Mazda2 Venture Edition, it is based on the five-door Tamura model and costs just under £13k. The new model comes with gunmetal-coloured 16-inch alloy wheels, sports body kit, front fog lamps and privacy glass distinguishes the special edition from the standard version. On the inside it comes with the addition of a Sanyo TomTom navigation system with a 5.8-inch touch screen, integrated Bluetooth hands-free kit, climate control air-conditioning and electric rear windows.
