Palm Coast - Each year since 2006 the Community Foundation of East Central Florida has the pleasure of making grants for various causes in Volusia County from several funds held at the foundation. This year the foundation’s board of directors is pleased to announce the first grant round from the newly formed Southwest Volusia Community Fund. Members of the Southwest Volusia community came together last year to establish an area of interest fund that will make grants to agencies providing service to Southwest Volusia residents. This fund is the savings account for the nonprofit community that will give back forever to the community because 75% of each donation is placed into an endowed fund, invested and earnings each year will be added to the grant pool.
According to Nita Schmellick, Pres/CEO of the community foundation, the two grants given out this year will be for $487.50, small grants but they can make a big impact. Any agency wishing to apply for the grants can download the grant from the foundations website, http://www.cfecf.org or contact the foundation office at 396-734-4075, Services provided with this funding must be provided to the Southwest Volusia community.
