May 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Strider Sports International, developer of the patented STRIDER™ No-Pedal Balance Bikes, supports The League of American Bicyclists and PeopleForBikes.org in the promotion of National Bike Month, May 1–30, 2012. Celebrate 55 years of National Bike Month with a fun, healthy and environmentally responsible pastime.

The U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey shows that although more than half of the US population lives within 5-miles of their workplace, just one-half of one percent of American workers use bicycles as a primary mode of transportation to work. Although this represents forty-percent increase since 2000, Strider believes the key to doing better is developing tomorrow’s riders today.

Strider is the world’s premier no-pedal balance bike manufacturer. These easy-to-use bikes are designed to encourage toddlers and young children to ride, learn and explore the world on two wheels at a very early age, instilling a love for cycling that is sure to build a safer, stronger, healthier, more environmentally sound future.

As the weather gets better and the days grow longer, May is the perfect time to get outside and ride. To the park, to work, to the store, to school or just for fun, with each new rider we are striding to create a stronger tomorrow.

A number of national events will be taking place over the coming weeks to raise awareness about the benefits of bike riding and to celebrate National Bike Month. Among these are: National Bike to School Day (May 9), CycloFemme, the International Day of Women’s Bicycling (May 13), National Bike to Work Week (May 14-18), National Bike to Work Day (May 18), National Bike Challenge (May 1-August 31).

Strider events in May can be found at www.StriderLife.com. Community events nationwide can be found by visiting www.bikeleague.org.
