These buses will operate from the bus depot Banda Bahadur Marg in North Delhi. The bus depot has a capacity of accommodating 50 buses. Delhi Integrated Multi- Modal Transit System (DIMTS) will monitor the operation of this route and AB Grains Spirit Pvt Ltd is the concessionaire, said an official release.
The new routes number 78 and 108 buses are from cluster III and V. Route number 78 is from Azadpur to Inderpuri JJ Colony, route number 108 is from Nehru Vihar Balak Ram Hospital to HN Clock Tower. Route 78 number will have eight buses on road and route number 108 will have ten buses on road, said the statement.
Some of the important stops that route number 78 will be serving are Azadpur, Wazirpur Depot, Punjabi Bagh, Rampura, Shadipur Depot, Naraina Industrial Area and Inderpuri. Route number 108 will have stops at Balak Ram Hospital, Mall Road, Khalsa College, Maurice Nagar, Mayapuri and finally Hari Nagar Clock Tower.
The buses on these routes will provide connectivity to the Metro rail system. Route 78 will touch some metro stations like Azadpur metro station, Netaji Subhash Place (Ring Road) metro station,. Punjabi Bagh metro station and Inderlok metro station. Buses on routes number 108 will touch metro stations like station, Vishwavidhalaya metro station, Shastri Nagar Metro station, Inderlok metro station, Moti Nagar metro station among others.
Buses running on this route are semi-low floor (first step being at 400 meters from ground). The cluster buses are equipped with GPS (Global Positioning System) and do the real time- monitoring on their location speed. Also, there are inbuilt speed governors to regulate the speed of the buses.
There is another feature in these buses- Electronic Ticketing Machine (ETM) which sends real time ticketing information to the backend at the Operation Control Centre with proper time, date and station boarded and destined station of the passengers.
