May 11, 2012 - Watertown, WI - INTERNATIONAL LEARN TO FLY DAY was first announced during the 2009 Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Subsequently, on May 10, 2010, the United States House of Representatives provided support for the event by passing a resolution entitled, ”International Learn To Fly Day.” With this action, Congress officially designated the third Saturday of May as the annual date for this event to be held throughout the aviation community.
Wisconsin Aviation will sponsor a number of special events at its three Wisconsin airports in Watertown (Watertown Municipal Airport), Madison (Dane County Regional Airport), and Juneau (Dodge County Airport) on Saturday, May 19, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Included will be hands-on introductory flight lessons for $69, the opportunity to “fly” a state-of-the-
art flight simulator, free seminars on what is involved with becoming a pilot, and tours of the airport facilities and their diversified fleet of flight training aircraft. Wisconsin Aviation employees will also be on hand to provide information on various career opportunities in the field of aviation. Free hot dogs and refreshments will be served.
