For stays throughout the summer holidays from 6 July – 17 September, YHA is offering three nights, for up to five people in a private family room, for only £99 if booked during May and up until 12 June. More than 200 of YHA’s great locations throughout England and Wales are offering the great value accommodation to families.
The offer comes hot on the heels of a recent *report that found that families are suffering the biggest squeeze in their incomes for more than three years. UK households are £9-a-week poorer than they were one year ago as a result of the spiraling cost of food, travel and utility bills.
The North West saw the strongest pressure on family budgets over the past year. Households face particularly tough employment conditions in the region, with the unemployment rate rising to 9.6 per cent in the three months to February, up from 7.9 per the previous year.
Families can choose from Youth Hostels in some fabulous areas, including towns, cities, National Parks and coastal locations. There are eight Youth Hostels alone in the UK’s capital, London and 15 located along the new Wales Coastal Path.
All Youth Hostels provide self-catering facilities and great value activities to suit all ages, to enable families to have a fun, comfortable and low-cost holiday.
Rt Hon Richard Caborn, YHA President and former Sports Minister, explained: “Being a charity, YHA’s mission is to help everyone, especially young people of limited means. Our summer deal for families is not only providing them with an opportunity to have a summer holiday they may not have otherwise had, but also offering them a great new experience.”
“With so many Youth Hostels to choose from and in such a wide variety of locations, we can provide a holiday to suit the taste and budget of every member of the family. You don’t even have to be a YHA member to take advantage of the offer and our network of Youth Hostels.”
