Their 3,114 passenger ship Adventure of the Seas will make its debut from Southampton in the summer of 2013, joining UK resident Independence of the Seas for her fifth year running.
The innovative new move comes as more and more British cruises opt to sail from the UK, rather than flying to a Mediterranean port.
Dominic Paul, vice president and group managing director, Royal Caribbean International, said: “The UK cruise market has long been a success story for Royal Caribbean International and doubling the number of ships sailing from Southampton is another great milestone. Royal Caribbean International is fiercely proud to have changed the face of UK cruising with the introduction of activity-packed ships offering rock climbing, ice skating, surfing and much more.”
“Not only does having both Adventure of the Seas and Independence of the Seas sailing from Southampton mean we can offer a greater variety of cruise holidays from the convenience of a UK port, but it also means we continue to demonstrate our commitment to the UK market, and the port of Southampton.”
Itineraries that customers can enjoy include seven night cruises to France and Spain, calling at ports such as Vigo, Gijon and Le Harve which is the gateway to Paris. She will also offer a 12 night Baltic cruise calling at Tallinn and Helsinki, as well as 14 night Mediterranean voyages to Lisbon, Malaga, Barcelona and Cannes.
Adventure of the Seas offers a rock-climbing wall, in-line skating, sports deck, running track, fitness centre, theatre venues, a host of dining facilities, bars and lounges and incredibly spacious staterooms and suites.
