I SEE DETROIT Tour Uses Education, History and Community  to Inspire City Back To Greatness

Detroit Tour to Cross Local Borders, Cultures and Age Groups, Fostering Greater Sense of Community

May 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Detroit - I SEE DETROIT is a community initiative designed to reach across Metro Detroit borders, cultures and age groups to foster a greater sense of community through exciting and innovative events.

The event, which takes place, Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 12:00 p.m. – 2 p.m., is a two hour guided walking tour through the streets and landmarks of downtown Detroit, learning the rich history and stories ofour great city. For those that choose to bring cameras, there will be opportunities to capture unique photographs of some of the most intriguing landmarks of the region. From the Spirit of Detroit, to Campus Martius Park, even Lafayette and American Coney Island restaurants, there is so much to see and learn.

The tour will begin in the heart of downtown at Campus Martius Park. D:hive Tour Company will provide the professional tour guides for the day.  After friendly preliminaries, we will start on a fun filled educational experience while getting to know our neighbors. It will be an experience like none other. Shawn Lee, a photographer who founded I SEE DETROIT says, “I've lived in Detroit all of my life and I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't know much of anything about my city . . . but what I’ve found through study, is the affirmation that Detroit is amazing!" He also says, “Many of us have roots and history here. I think this tour is an exceptional way to get the community together to enjoy exploring what is essentially the epicenter of our region, and learn a bit about each other as well.”

Registration and tour highlights, as well as the official video, can be found at http://iseedetroit.eventbrite.com/ or iseedetroit.com.   The event is $20 per person.  Families or groups of two(2) will receive a $5 discount per person. Families and/or groups of four(4) will receive a $10 discount person. All tour goers will receive an official I SEE DETROIT t-shirt and free swag bag with registration by Tuesday, May 15, 2012. This will be a high energy afternoon, and, for the tech savvy we will have a route card with all social media info for each destination so you can tweet, facebook, foursquare, google+, flickr and instagram during the tour.

After the tour, we encourage everyone to stay and join us for lunch at The Hudson Cafe restaurant, where we will unveil plans for future I SEE DETROIT events. The Hudson Cafe is an exceptional downtown Detroit breakfast and lunch eatery located at 1241 Woodward Ave., right down the street from the tour start.

"The biggest and most important part of this tour is the giving back component that is and will always be built into I SEE DETROIT events," says Shawn.  All of the net proceeds from the tour will benefit Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation in an effort to supplement mental stability programming of homeless and abused children. Shawn exclaims, "I really want everyone to know that there is no profit being made from this event and that this is strictly intended to be a community serving event!"
