PRLog - May 10, 2012 - HOUSTON -- On Saturday, May 5, 2012, the John Palmer Art Gallery & Studio hosted the first annual Gathering of Escapists. This historic event honored all Escapist Artists from the inaugural 2009 class to the present by allowing them to mix and mingle with each other and Palmer's top collectors. The gallery featured both early and contemporary Escapism paintings by Palmer. Collectors that acquire an Escapism painting during the month of May 2012 will receive name recognition as a Patron of Escapism in the Catalogue featuring the 2012 Escapist Artists. Sales of Escapism paintings go towards funding the entirely free Escapist Mentorship Program--with the goal of forever destroying the stereotype of the struggling artist.
Artist John Ross Palmer with the Escapist Artists
Palmer said of the occasion, "The event was magnificent and I felt truly humbled to see all of these talented artists gather at one time. It is my dream for them to be self-sustaining and successful. Because of the great fortune I've been given in the art world, this is my favorite way of giving back and supporting hard-working artists." Founded in 2009, the Escapist Mentorship Program started as a casual way for a fun group of Houston artists to meet, communicate with each other about art and business while learning from Artist John Ross Palmer as a group leader. Now in its fourth successful year, the program has had applicants from all over the globe from all career levels. Palmer coaches the artists individually for an entire year on confidence, savvy business practices and professional self-promotion.
