The Council serves as a liaison to the tax exempt/government entities division of the Internal Revenue Service, which oversees employee benefit plans, exempt organizations and government entities.
Members must be nominated by a current member of the Council and have demonstrated professional competence to contribute meaningfully to the fulfillment of the purposes of the Council. Kolenic, who previously served as program coordinator, will serve a one-year term as chair.
The Council works to open and maintain lines of communication between the Great Lakes Area TE/GE Division of the IRS and the practitioner community within the area. Members of the Council provide input to the IRS on procedural and systemic matters, ranging from policies and procedures to specific tax issues.
Kolenic has practiced law in West Michigan for more than 30 years, the past 17 as a partner at Warner Norcross.
