Mother's Day Breakfast in Renton Washington to help Haiti Handicapped Children

May 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Renton WA…Renton residents can honor their moms and help handicapped children in Haiti this Mother’s Day, May 13, 8:30 am to noon, at the Mother’s Day Breakfast sponsored by the Knights of Columbus group at St. Anthony Parish Hall 314 S. 4th in Renton (across the street from main church building). The donation-only breakfast will feature pancakes, sausages, eggs, tortas, orange juice and beverages and will be at St. Anthony Parish hall. Proceeds from the breakfast will help to fund a lab to fabricate, adjust and fit prosthetics for handicapped children in Haiti. Volunteers from the Knights of Columbus are cooking the breakfast. Torero’s restaurants are the lead donor for the local fundraiser.       

“Coming to the breakfast is a wonderful way to give mom a break and share her life-giving love to needy children. Give mom a nice breakfast and share her caring,” said Dang Nguyen, Grand Knight of the St. Anthony Parish Fr. Lane Council #3645.

For those unable to attend the Mother’s Day Breakfast, donations can be made payable to Knights of Columbus Charities (Memo: For Haiti Children) and sent to: Knights of Columbus c/o 13504 181st Avenue SE Renton, WA 98059.

 The Knights of Columbus nationwide is working to provide prostheses to 1,000 Haitian children who lost limbs in the January 2010 earthquake. The goal is to provide each child who lost a limb with a series of prosthetic devices over the next two years, refitting the devices as they grow. The program, which will require about $1 million in financial assistance, also involves the necessary physical therapy and training for children to learn to use the devices.
