May 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Many UK operators offer the same predictable itineraries but Southeast Asia specialist Bamboo Travel has launched a brand new 18-day trip called Wild Borneo, which includes a unique chance to trek for six days, deep into the jungle accompanied by the nomadic Penan Tribe.

This unforgettable experience will demonstrate how these incredible people survive and how they interact with the pristine rainforest that they have fought so hard to protect from Government deforestation.

The itinerary commences in the historic riverside city of Kuching, with a visit to the Semonggoh orang-utan sanctuary to get up close to these magnificent beasts which are so symbolic of Borneo.

The expedition starts from the coastal town of Miri with a flight to the Long Banga airstrip close to the border with Kalimantan, where there next six days and five nights will be spent with the nomadic Penan tribe, trekking in the rainforest of the Pulong Tau National Park, whilst learning their forest skills.

The second part of the tour is spent in Sabah, home to Borneo's highest mountain, Kinabalu, plus a huge concentration of wildlife, to explore waterways which attract orang-utans, elephants, crocodiles, proboscis monkeys and a great variety of colourful and rare birds.

The second part of the itinerary also includes travelling by boat to stay in the village of Abai, with a boat exploration of the Kinabatangan River.

From there, a flight will be taken to a beach resort near Kota Kinabalu, to end the trip with two nights’ well-earned R&R.

The 18-day holiday costs from £2,695 per person (two sharing, for June departures) which includes international and domestic flights, nine-nights’ hotel accommodation, six nights in a  homestay/expedition style hammock, daily breakfast (plus seven lunches and seven dinners), all road transfers, shared boat transfers, and tours on both a private and shared basis.
