“I think an online reference is a nice service for our customers,” says Jacy Elsesser. “I want to add popular questions from our customers and my response once a month to the website.”
With a background as a real estate investor and over 10 years of owning a hardware store, this small business owner has decided to share his knowledge online.
“I think the internet is an excellent place to organize our training that we have been doing for our employees. I am very interested in doing more videos for the site too. For some projects, it is much easier to understand a concept when you are able to show it, step by step. We did a video on how to trouble shoot a flame sensor on a furnace and I was really pleased at all the thank you emails I got,” says Mr. Elsesser. “When you have no hot water or no heat on a cold weekend evening, it is nice to have a chance to fix it yourself by watching a video.”
The new website Ask The Hardware Guy.com is a small site now with some basic help with topics such as: how to get rid of mice, how to revitalize your lawn, how to unclog a bathtub drain and weed control. They also have a variety of videos with topics like how to re-screen a window screen, how to trouble shoot a furnace and how to replace a toilet fill valve.
With monthly updates and new topics this neighborhood hardware store is giving great customer service even after hours.
