May 9, 2012 - PRLog -- “I chose work that, for me, clearly differentiated between the camera’s ability to record, and what the photographer intended to communicate,” states Christopher James, juror of the upcoming Alternative Processes exhibition at The Center for Fine Art Photography. He was looking for work that was “challenging and that invited (him) to create “with” the image rather than to simply identify its subjective content, or demonstrate technical finesse.” Featuring work from Paul Adams (Juror’s Selection) and collaborating photographers S. Gayle Stevens/Judy Sherrod (Juror’s Honorable Mention), the viewer is
given the opportunity to create with each image.

Christopher James is an internationally known artist and photographer whose paintings and alternative process images have been exhibited in galleries and museums in this country and abroad. His work has been published and shown extensively, including shows in The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The George Eastman House, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The first edition of his
book, The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes, received unprecedented critical acclaim and was the winner of The Golden Light Technical Book of the Year award. Recently, a greatly expanded, and lavishly illustrated, 2nd edition was published by Delmar Cengage and has become universally recognized as the defi nitive text in the genre. Christopher, after 13 years at Harvard University, is currently University Professor, Director of the MFA in Photography, and Chair of Photography, at AIB.

Alternative Processes will be on display in the Center's online and physical galleries from May 25 – June 23, 2012. The artists' and public reception will take place June 1, 2012 from 6 - 9p.m.
