Silhouette artist Marie Cheek will lend her services; compliments of Baby Blossom. Parents may have their children’s silhouette’s cut – the old fashioned way, with scissors by Cheek - in exchange for a donation to MISSION: SLEEP. Children may also enjoy delectable delights from several local Mom-owned bakeries, including J&J Bakeshop and Confections of Manassas. No appointments are necessary.
The Baby Blossom event is the final of three fundraising events during May, Military Appreciation Month.
The first, held May 5, 2012 included a NOVA Roller Derby (Dulles) double header match, and an iPad2 raffle with the compliments of the Derby gals. The second, held May 9, 2012 includes a Sleep Seminar for new mothers at Smalltalkers in Centerville. Both events raised nearly $600 to benefit MISSION: SLEEP.
All funds raised benefit MISSION: SLEEP, which will provide five (5) nights of in-home, overnight care and education for the family from an RN, LPN or Medical Technician, allowing mother and baby to transition from hospital to home with ease. MISSION: SLEEP assists the families of servicemen or women who are wounded or deployed at the time of the baby’s birth.
The MISSION hopes to reach 25 families in 2012.
MISSION: SLEEP is currently accepting sponsorships across a variety of levels. Right now, the opportunity exists to help our nation’s military families during a time of great happiness, and great need. Bringing home baby is tough enough – when dad is away, it’s even harder.
