PRLog - May 9, 2012 - Santa Ana, Calif. – Looking for proof that consumers are taking more of an active interest in their health and wellness?  Check out the recent success of three major health-focused retailers - GNC, Whole Foods and Vitamin Shoppe.

According to a story on the popular money and investing site The Motley Fool, “A health kick across the country has pushed shares of health-focused companies higher in the past year,” and cites GNC, Whole Foods and Vitamin Shoppe as examples.

Nutricosmetic manufacturer NeoCell is experiencing a similar growth pattern, and several of the company’s most popular products are sold through those three retailers. NeoCell sales are up nearly 38% in 2012.

“People are taking a more active role in their own health and wellness,” said Jessica Mulligan, NeoCell Vice President of Sales. “They’re finding that supplements and vitamins are an important part of their daily routine, whether it’s to improve their health, deal with pain or find a way to feel and look better. People are becoming increasingly aware that taking proactive steps to wellness can drastically improve their quality of life in the future.”

With this proactive mentality, the demographic for wellness products has been shifting as well.

“We have seen a large addition to our existing customer base with more and more people beginning health and beauty regimens in their 20’s and 30’s,” said Mulligan. “This is fantastic because starting a preventive routine when you’re just beginning to see the signs of aging is one of the most fundamental actions a person can do to keep their skin and joints from degrading with age.”
