Microsoft backs DrupalCamp Scotland 2012

Microsoft is the latest sponsor to put its weight behind this year’s DrupalCamp Scotland, further underlining its commitment to Open Source and Open Standards.

May 9, 2012 - PRLog -- A free, two-day event, DrupalCamp Scotland brings together members of the Scottish Drupal community and aims to introduce the platform to new users with a series of accessible tutorials. Drupal is an open source modular platform used to build everything from personal blogs to enterprise applications.

This year’s programme also includes a dedicated Drupal for Business event, which will explore the business benefits of using Drupal and open source software in general.

A spokesperson for Microsoft said: “Microsoft has learned a great deal about Open Source and Open Standards over the last decade. We actively encourage developers to write Open Source code on Windows and make it as easy as possible to integrate mixed source code, frameworks and platforms.”
“We are delighted to be supporting DrupalCampScotland. We have worked hard to make sure Drupal works brilliantly on Windows Azure in the cloud, on Windows Server and on PCs via our free download – WebMatrix.”

Online registration is now open and there is still time for Drupal enthusiasts to submit session proposals. The deadline for submissions is 10 May and the full programme will be announced shortly after.

Increasing numbers of businesses, government agencies and non-profit organisation sites are turning to Drupal because it is free, flexible, and is constantly being improved by the hundreds of thousands of dedicated developers that are part of the global Drupal Community.

DrupalCamp Scotland will take place in the Informatics Forum at the University of Edinburgh on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 May 2012. To discuss sponsorship opportunities, please contact Duncan@digitalnomad.co.uk.
