Mark Rylander brings to CleanWave Group a passion for innovative project design and extensive contacts at both ventures and established corporations. He is a design leader and change agent whose innovative work signals a positive, lasting, relationship between human purposes and the natural world. As a Director with William McDonough + Partners he was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Cradle to Cradle® philosophy. He led aspirational projects such as Nike Europe’s Headquarters and The Woods Hole Research Center. Mark’s specific expertise includes project leadership, strategic frameworks, design integration, lighting, energy systems and material selection. He brings to CleanWaveGroup an ongoing interest and engagement in Cleantech design, built-environment infrastructure, and social entrepreneurship. Mark serves on the faculty of the University of Virginia, is an experienced speaker and writer, and is a past chair of the AIA Committee on the Environment. He holds degrees from Yale (M.Arch) and the University of Virginia (B.S. Arch).
