May 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Everyone is invited to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Alamo Area Council, Boy Scouts of America being held on Wednesday, May 16th at the elegant St. Anthony Riverwalk Wyndham Hotel.  It was on the sixteenth day of May when the reorganization of the Boy Scout council in San Antonio was perfected and recognized by the great State of Texas; and it was at the St. Anthony Hotel where it was also decided back in May 1912 that the name of the local Boy Scout council should be called Alamo Council, Boy Scouts of America.

“Love Scouting for what it has done, and for what it’s going to do,” declares Michael de los Santos, Scout Executive for the Alamo Area Boy Scouts.  With respect for the traditions and history that brought scouting here and a vision for the next 100 years, De los Santos is happy to welcome and encourage all to attend and support the Alamo Area BSA Centennial.  Ponce Duran, the current Boy Scouts of America Southern Region Director and Alamo Area BSA Scout Executive from 1997-2006, will be in attendance as will John Coyle, the Alamo Area BSA Scout Executive from 2006-2011.

“Our Centennial Gala is part of the kickoff of our community outreach efforts to make everyone more aware of the story and value of scouting to continue to strengthen the moral, physical, spiritual, and economic vitality of our local community,” says Angel Martinez III, Communications Executive with the Alamo Area BSA.

The Alamo Area BSA Centennial Gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp with registration and social networking against the musical backdrop of the International Trio, featuring Grammy award percussionist Henry Brun.  Entertainment and program support is sponsored by Infinity Medical Equipment.  “I’ve been out of the scouting community since my days as an Eagle Scout.  When I heard about the Alamo Area Boy Scouts Centennial, reconnecting to be involved made sense because their programs work to make a difference in the lives of our kids,” says Dr. John Raimondo, President/CEO, at Infinity.

All that care to join and support our community of any age, 18 to 100, are invited and welcome to attend.   The Alamo Area BSA Centennial Gala will be held at the St. Anthony Riverwalk Wyndham Hotel located at 300 East Travis Street, San Antonio, Texas 78205.

Tickets are $100 for individual and $175 couples.  Dress is San Antonio Latin fusion or business attire.  Master of Ceremonies will be KSAT-12 meteorologist, Mike Osterhage.

The dinner menu will include cilantro salad with julienne romaine, toasted pepitas, jicama-mandarin orange, avocado, tortilla strips, cilantro lime vinaigrette, and a tortillas crusted coriander citrus marinated chicken breast.  Birthday dessert will be provided by Scratch from Chef Kimberly Scandrett.  Dancing will follow dinner with the sounds of Latin fusion music by DJ Masquerade.

To RSVP, contact Angel Martinez at 210-341-8611 Ext 160 or the Scout Service Center at 210-341-8611 Ext 100 or find more information and purchase tickets on the website www.AlamoAreaBSA.org and on the Alamo Area BSA’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/AlamoAreaBSA .

The Alamo Area Council, BSA also invites you to celebrate their 100 Year Anniversary by donating to Scouting to support programs council wide for our area kids.  “We can reach more under-served communities with funding and community support,” says Ernesto Bromley, Chairman of the Centennial Gala and CEO of Bromley Communications, LLC.
