The modifications are on the subtle side and on the safe side; the original Civic look and appearance is intact.  The Civic competes in the affordable compact auto niche with cars such as the Hyundai Elantra and Chevrolet Cruze.

Consumers will be able to choose from seven trim levels. Consumers who are interested in a greener option will be able to select the natural gas model or the high efficiency model. Fuel efficiency figures for the high efficiency model comes in at 29 mpg for city driving and 41 mpg on the highway. The SI model will be the most performance oriented and powerful Civic.  It is equipped with a V4 engine with a total output of 200hp and 170 lb feet of torque.

Consumers are also able to opt for Eco Assist at an additional cost. This feature trains the driver to drive more efficiently via a graphic interface. Designers have revamped the interior for more passenger and cargo space (12.5 cubic feet). Engineers have redesigned the A-pillars giving drivers improved visibility when changing lanes.  Pricing for the base model starts at around $15,869.
