The Rotary club Beirut Cedars in Saintes, France 26-19 April 2012

May 8, 2012 - PRLog -- The Rotary Club Beirut Cedars visited Saintes in France, invited by the Rotary Club Of Saintes. Members of the rotary club of Saintes had invited the Lebanese club during the visit of its 17 members delegation to Lebanon in October 2010.
Nine members from RC Beirut Cedars: Maguy and Ronald Farra: Rita Hoayek, Zareh Abadjian, Sona Kourtian, Rima Khalaf, Rami Majzoub, Kamal Katra and Phillip Skaff were representing the club. Mr. Michael Saneh, organizer of the trip, had to excuse himself due to family reasons.
Besides exchanging know-how on many Rotary aspects related to how Rotary business is conducted in France compared to Lebanon, the Lebanese were also introduced to the various cultural aspects of the Rotarian regions they visited through guided tours to the country of wines and Cognac. The Rotary Lebanese delegation visited La Rochelle, Rochefort, St Emilion, Cognac and Saintes of course.
The Lebanese Rotarians met with 4 Rotary clubs in the region. Rami Majzoub, President Elect of RC Beirut Cedars exchanged flags with the respective presidents of the 4 clubs: Rotary Club of La Rochelle Aunis, Rotary Club of Marennes Olerons (who offered them a cocktail with very fresh oysters), Rotary Club of Cognac and the host club of Saintes, to whom Zareh Abadjian offered their flag embroidered in gold, a present from RCBC, and Mr. Katra a silver plate with the names of the two clubs engraved on it.
The Rotary Club Beirut Cedars offered the club of Saintes to do a “matching grant” with them in one of their social project.
The visit ended in a festive manner with the rotary club of Saintes organizing a Gala dinner in a happy and friendly atmosphere.
The Rotary Club Beirut Cedars would like to address a very warm thank you to the members of the rotary Club of Saintes and specially to Mrs Sanaa Kachaami, of Lebanese origin.
The Rotary Club Beirut Cedars, now embarking on its second year since its inception, has accomplished more than 130,000 USD  worth of humanitarian  projects within its first year, and till now has reached 200,000USD for the year 2011-2012.
