Quantum Shift Art Exhibition featuring London Tsai and Judith Berk King will kick off early on Friday evening (May 11th at 6pm) in the spirit of Mother’s Day with a surprising event.
A Call to All Breastfeeding Mothers was put out earlier in the week by artist London Tsai who has a network of alternative health practitioners, birth workers, and breastfeeding mothers. The call encouraged breastfeeding mothers to come nurse around a piece their babies are sure to recognize. The “piece” refers to a five-foot tall breast made of welded aluminum, which London Tsai will be exhibiting for the first time. Tsai explains: “The idea for the breast came to me after the birth of my second child. It just feels right that it be unveiled for the first time in a more intimate context among mothers, babies, and midwives.
“The breast is something everyone can connect to: aside from its being a source of life nourishment, there is its undeniable aesthetic beauty and huge symbolic meaning--the breast is fundamental.”
