A large Thai delegation will attend the annual Clean Power Asia in Bali from 14-16 May which will feature some exciting updates on the region’s progress in adopting solar and other renewable and cleaner energy technology.

Bali hosts regional event as Asia starts to embrace clean and green energy
May 7, 2012 - PRLog -- A large Thai delegation will attend the annual Clean Power Asia in Bali from 14-16 May which will feature some exciting updates on the region’s progress in adopting solar and other renewable and cleaner energy technology.  

Says Clean Power Asia’s conference manager, Daria la Valle:  “The large Thai delegation that will come to Bali include representatives from EGAT, PEA Encom, the Ministry of Energy, the Energy Regulatory Commission, the Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai Greenhouse Gas Organisation.  PEA Encom will also have an exhibition booth.”

She says the Thailand authorities have been supportive of the event from the start.  “The inaugural Clean Power Asia event took place in Bangkok last year and was a huge success, attracting 430 power generation stakeholders from more than 20 countries.  The event was well supported by the Thailand authorities.  This year many stakeholders from the region and beyond are expected again in Bali.  We will bring the event back to Bangkok again in April next year.”

She continues:  “we expanded the exhibition this year, bringing more technology and solution providers before of utilities, IPPs and developers who are looking for suitable partners for their projects.“

Highlights in the Clean Power Asia programme include:
•   “How Thailand plans to diversify its energy mix (fossil and renewable energy) in an environmentally friendly way”
-    Dr. Songpope Polachan, Director General, Department of Mineral, Fuels in  
     Thailand’s Ministry of Energy

•   “The analysis of Thailand’s Feed-in Tariffs policy schemes for all RE technologies”
-   Dr Sopitsuda Tongsoposit, Energy Policy Analyst, Visiting Lecturer, Energy Technology and Management Graduate Programme, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand

•   “PLN’s initiatives and achievements towards cleaner and more efficient power generation”  
-    Nur Pamudji, President Director, PT PLN (Persero), Indonesia

•   “Malaysia’s clean power generation initiatives”
-    Datuk Loo Took Gee, Secretary General, Ministry of Energy, Green Technology  
    and Water, Malaysia
