Abby Posner was born in Evergreen, Colorado and began studying music and performance as a young child. In 2002, she moved to Los Angeles to continue her musical training at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Her focus was multi-faceted concentrating on both world percussion and composition for songwriting. Abby plays a number of instruments such as banjo, guitar, drums, mandolin, and other world music instruments.
Her commitment to her work as a musician is evident through her extensive experience in performance, scoring, music instruction, songwriting and recording. She released her debut solo EP, “The Gather and the Thief” in spring 2011 and is set to release her first full length CD “For You, The Spring” shortly.
Her single “For You, The Spring” was pre-released as an example of what is yet to come. It is described as an intimate song and an artistic conceptual story. This single symbolizes giving some one the gift of love even though it is not destined to last. It is a gift of spring capturing a fleeting moment in time where love is present.
As a sequel to her 2011 release “The Gatherer and the Thief”, her stories are a picture book put into motion with expressive and poetic caricatures in a land of wonder that symbolizes moments and snippets in one’s life. Her nontraditional storytelling approach is something of the old Grimm’s fairy tales creating delight, excitement, wonder and all performed to a worldwide adoring audience.
One common thread in her work is the fusion of musical styles of music creating that perfect deliberate sound to represent her storyline. Whether it is a mix of country with reggae or folk and pop, whatever the storyline calls for, Abby will create through her musical talents.
Abby has also been and still is a member of a band called Fearmia for the last 9 years serving as a songwriter and lead singer. Together, they have released three CD’s, “Breaking Through” in 2004, “You Do” in 2008 and “Frying Pan and Freeway’s”
