Ft Myers Track & Running Shoe Store, Foot Solutions Estero, Sponsors "Turtle Trot" 5K at Lovers Key

PRLog (Press Release) - May 6, 2012 - Foot Solutions of Estero, a Ft. Myers track and running shoe store, announces it will be a sponsor for “The Turtle Trot” 5K Run, taking place on Saturday, May 12th at Lovers Key State Park.  At the Foot Solutions of Estero booth, runners will be provided free digital foot scans by a Certified Licensed Pedorthist.   More information about these scans can be found on Foot Solutions website, http://stores.footsolutions.com/estero.  In addition to the sponsorship, Foot Solutions will be offering $25 gift cards to the runners. The proceeds from the event will go to benefit the non-profit organization, Friends of Lovers Key State Park (FOLKS).

“This is our first year participating as a sponsor for the Turtle Trot, and we are really looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of this event,” said Chris Cole, Owner, Foot Solutions of Estero.  “It’s a beautiful location for a run, and we are happy to be supporting the efforts to maintain the park.   We are also excited about helping the participants ensure their feet are in good shape for this and future runs.  The digital foot scans we’ll be giving will provide the runners with a pressure map reading of their feet, and will give us insight into each person’s unique needs. We’ll have a sampling of some of our most popular running shoes available, and can recommend certain types of shoes or inserts that will work the best for each runner.”

The Turtle Trot 5K provides a unique trail course, and is one of the most popular runs in the area, with more than 450 runners anticipated.  Runners and walkers will trek through a shady, maritime hammock ecosystem on a hard packed shell path.  The runners then proceed along the Black Island Trail, climb a 38' hill, cross two bridges, and reach a dramatic finish line at the beach.  (No part of the course requires running through beach sand.)  The course ends at the Lovers Key State Park pavilion, overlooking the beach where refreshments will be served and awards will be presented.  After the race, participants are encouraged to stick around and take a dip in the Gulf.  For more information, or to register for the race, call FOLKS at (239) 463-4588.
