During the morning, the breeze picked up beyond initial expectations, building to 13 knots in bright sunshine to show off harbour sailing at its best. Given the improved conditions, Boyde elected to give the Big Boat Divisions 2 and 3 a longer course, with a target finish time of 1600hrs for all classes, although a strong tide developed giving the fleet some issues with their starts and roundings.
There were some casualties for the day, with Easy Tiger making a substantial hole in Mind The Bumps, and Jelignite losing both life lines between races, and several protests were submitted as the sailors stepped onshore at the end of the day.
After the key protests had been heard, a packed prizegiving got underway, bolstered by product from Carlsberg and Laurent Perrier and with prizes being presented by Michael Cho, Manager Marketing of Rockport Asia Pacific, Alan Cymberknoh, Director of Spare One, Wellock Lo, General Manager of Best Spirits Company and Ruth Franco from Musto.
