The above quote seems to be the all too common catch-cry of those who have either tried and failed at
losing weight, or simply could not be bothered trying to lose weight. And the conviction with which these
people espouse these words is, to be quite blunt, both ridiculous and dangerous.
And even more disturbing are the high profile TV personalities, doctors, and psychologists who , with misguided good intentions mind you, also encourage this dangerous line of thinking.
Obviously we all SHOULD love ourselves, and obviously we NEED to love ourselves.
And these are precisely the reasons that it is imperative that every effort is made to keep body fat within
respectable limits, and stop living in denial.
If only those in denial knew and understood the dangers of visceral fat. The type of fat that you don't
see. Not the "love handles" or the "flabby arms" type of fat.
I am talking about the fat that surrounds the internal organs. The fat that is packed in between organs
(stomach, liver, intestines, kidneys, etc.)
An excess of visceral fat is known as also known as core obesity. Visually, this will give you the "pot belly" or "beer belly" look, in which the mid section protrudes excessively. Sadly, the same "beer belly" that many middle aged men are actually wearing with pride!
Now, this is alarming. It has been reported that for every 10 kilograms of extra body fat, there are some
29 kilometers of extra blood vessels through which blood must be pumped. That's a HUGE load on our hearts.
