Under the direction of David Honeycutt, M.D., a cardiac radiologist specialist located at Centennial, RemoteMRI will enable the treatment and diagnosis of patients at Redmond Regional. With this technology Honeycutt can remotely control Redmond Regional’s MRI, read scans, and collaborate with Redmond technicians. This collaboration is beneficial to Redmond Regional, which has cardiac MRI equipment but not a specialist to read scans or technicians to keep up with the demand.
“One of the most exciting aspects of this project is the connectivity between hospitals in northwest Georgia and Nashville that allows for sharing of best practices between the programs. It allows each facility to learn from the particular expertise of partnering physicians and staff, which broadens the knowledge base of those involved in the care of the patient,” said Carlton Ulmer, COO of Redmond Regional. “Two of the top cardiology groups in the Southeast, are working together to provide a service that is currently not offered between Atlanta, Birmingham and Nashville. That’s exciting.”
With RemoteMRI physicians have a workstation set up in their office to directly connect to a Cardiac MRI Unit through an integrated dedicated network. Physicians can remotely control the equipment and read the MRI scans in real time. Specialists can connect to multiple sites, leveraging their time efficiently and providing more effective patient care. Hospitals and medical centers can retain the patients in their facilities and immediately process billing for the procedures.
